Hi All
I have a 2006 TJ sport with an (assumed) factory upgrade Dana 44 on the rear. Not a Rubicon

I need to change my rear pinion Yoke (broken bolts) and want to change my seal while I am in there.
I see the 44 seal offered in 3 choices:
- Crown 83503390 = Non-Flanged
- Crown 5072473AA = Flanged, non Rubicon
- Crown 5066446AA = Rubicon only.

How do I know if I have flanged or non-flanged? is it visible before removal? Would lie to have the correct parts before taking it apart.

Thx.

Sure thing...

For the seal: Spicer 50660

A flanged yoke does not appear to be an option for that axle from Denny's. I am not aware of a TJ ever having a flanged pinion yoke either. The difference in seals called out by Denny's are for:

Pinion seal: 97-02 (all unlocked or trak loc)
Pinion seal: 02-06 (unlocked or trak loc)
Pinion seal: 02-06 Rubi (air locker)
Pinion dust shield: 02-06 Rubi (air locker)

Yoke appears to only be different for the u-joint size. So essentially buy whatever yoke size matches your current u-joint (I'd guess 1310 but I don't know), and you should be good.

Might want to go ahead and pull diff cover and change oil. New Diff cover gasket too.
Looks as if it might have been a while since changed ??

That's a lot of rust...how's your frame look?

Might want to start wire wheeling some of that and treating it with a rust converter, primer and paint.
