Really sad about my dog

We find it difficult to part with ours as well so we keep them near. That's the bookcase in the dining room. View attachment 193240
My dad has a similar set-up at his place in Arizona. All of his dogs from the past 20 years, or so. Frankly, I thought it was a bit odd when I first saw it, but I came to understand what it means to him. Being that he currently has eight dogs still running around the house, I think it's safe to say that he's a "dog person".

Molly update MRI showed its a few discs in her back that are causing her issues. They want her to rest for four weeks, and take pain meds etc. Molly will wear a lift harness with a handle so I can help her get in and out of the house. They will start PT after the four weeks. Molly went for PT during the winter last year because a small tear on her ACL on her other leg.

So no surgery for now, but that could change.

As a retired K-9 officer, I will be the first to say that ALL of our animals are so much more than pets.

Absolutely. Also retired K-9, lost my last working dog in 2003 to hemangiosarcoma, still think about him daily. Kids loved him. Pup I have now is related to him.

We recently lost our 12 year old Golden to cancer. It has been gut wrenching around here. For the past three weeks I have found my wife in different parts of the house just crying her eyes out from finding a toy, or a tennis ball, and just no other reason. No way ready to replace him yet. Can’t bring myself to even bury his ashes yet.

Molly goes to the dump with me, people come up to me all the time to ask if its ok to pat her, and they ask me what is her name. One time a guy in his late 20's came up, started crying asking me if its ok to pat her I said sure. I got rid of all the trash, he was still crying. He said I'm sorry she looks just like my Golden that we had to put down today. I started to cry I told him take as long as he wanted I said Molly loves to be patted.

My Golden is 8 years old, Molly has a bulging disc, or cancer won't know until the MRI tomorrow. If its a disc they will operate, if its a tumor they can't do anything. She was acting normal today, then she had her back left leg dragging? When my son came over we picked her up to put Molly into the truck then take her to the vets the leg was just hanging.

The bill so far is 4,800. if they have to do surgery it will be 10k. My son's Golden in the bottom photo had cancer that they could treat with chemo. If Nugget is lucky he might live an extra year. When Molly passes I won't get another dog its to hard to lose one.

Dude. I started choking up...

I'm glad to hear that it's an issue with the discs, and not something worse. I know it's still painful for her, but at least it's treatable. Our little dog didn't respond to the physical therapy, so surgery was the only other option. She was running around the same day after the surgery like there had never been an issue at all (we obviously had to curb that until she was fully healed). Anyways, here's hoping for a full recovery for Molly! 🙏

We rescue mutts. High maintenance garbage dogs from the humane society.

We had one that just barely made it out alive. She could barely walk a block when we got her. Dumb thing was around several years sleeping on our laps all happy and shit, until she got sick one night. Had to put her down due to a bleeding tumor.

Stupid dogs.

We have two more hard cases that took months to get over her. Waking me up at night to look for her in the house and yard.

Stupid dogs.

Glad to hear the outlook is better at this point for Molly.
My 10 YO daughter was getting the mail one day and a speeding car hit our golden less than ten feet from her, threw the dog ten feet in the air, and 70 feet from impact...I almost beat the shit out of the dude, I told him if he had hit my daughter he would be dead in his tracks. Skyler died in my daughter's arms as we pulled into the vet. She chose to have her cremated, sprinkled 1/4 of her ashes on our mountain, 1/4 in our river where she swam, and the rest stayed in a cedar urn over her bed...

It's hard to lose a good pup.
Good luck Molly!

After reading your first post I am relieved to see that the prognosis appears to be better than feared. Good luck with the recovery. No matter how long are furry friends live it never is enough and it hurts to see them hurt. It is hard not to smile seeing these happy pets in this post :)
