Im looking at getting a new pair of shocks for the front of my jeep, and started going down the rabbit hole of options. I was looking at a few different options from fox, their performance shocks, their performance with the reservoir, and their factory race 2.0 smooth body shocks (would get tuned). Question is, are the factory race overkill for a pretty standard tj with a 4" lift? Am I better off with their off the shelf 2.0 performance line ? Monotube vs reservoir ?
Im not new to suspension tuning, as I raced Mountain Bikes and tuned suspension throughout the years to fit my needs, so I have a little bit of experience when it comes to tuning for compression and rebound. So far for shocks I have tried some bilstein 5100 and some skyjacker black max, the 5100's felt a bit rough , where as the blackmax felt a bit soft and had some inconsistent dampening after a few thousand miles.
