Hello I'm new here today! Created my jeep_girl_00 username and I'm ready to ask for assistance! I am hoping to purchase soon a 2005 TJ (with a/c) and 130 000 km (80 778 miles) and I noticed the backseat does not have headrests. I looked at suggestions in the forum, and I found the great link. I have attached 2 photos below ...looks like not the exact same tan if I buy new seats for the front two seats too. Is it that straight forward to just order this (and hope it arrives without too much cost for shipping to Canada) and take out the backseat and put in this new backseat with headrests? And since I'm at it, I may as well make 2 new front seats also.

Thoughts?

Thank you for reading and all suggestions welcomed!

The brackets for the back seat changed in like 03 or thereabouts. They can be made to fit but you have to change out the hardware. I did it on my 02, but I somebody here sent me their old brackets (for free, I think?!). You might not be that lucky. :)

So all that said, if they're for the same year, you're in good shape. If they say fits 97-06, know that they're wrong and you may have some work ahead of you.

Thank you for the tips & the prompt reply!

Thanks for letting me know. Anyone else have a link so that I can just order a backseat that comes with headrests that fits the '05 TJ?

As I recall, Jerry's experience was with the front seats. You may be able to get away with using the Bestop backseat as it would generally see much less wear and tear. There are threads on this forum where members here have added headsets to the OEM back seats so that may be an option for you as well.

Bought it! Wow, what a great purchase! (I will post a photo soon!). Manual Transmission, a/c, soft top, upgraded stereo, super fun ride! What alternate company do any of you recommend, please, to order a backseat with headrests, top quality?

Thank you for your idea ....I'd prefer a simple purchase and swap out....

Jeep_Girl - Don't know if you've already moved on, but was going to chime in:

I got my '03 TJ in January and it had no rear seat. I wanted headrests for the kiddos and so I bought the Bestop rear w/headrests. (Black Denim w/ fabric inserts. Close ish to the factory Dark Agate.)

TLDR It's fine.

It's not the best seat ever, and the OEMs look better built, but the kids like it and it has headrests. It took about 30min to install and comes with all the parts. (Note: it doesn't go into your stock brackets. You have to remove them and install the new hardware into the same inserts.). Headrests probably won't be tall enough for large humans.

My only real gripe is that the tilt and tumble feature doesn't latch "up" you have to tie it off or it sort of falls back on hard acceleration. (Manual here too )
