toilets are fun

Ive done apt maintenance in the past..
the most common pain in the ass running toilet call I had was the clogged toilet / bad fill valve seal combo. which results in the neighbor calling from the apartment below with water leaking through the bathroom ceiling. as you can imagine, when the toilet is legitimately clogged and the fill valve for the toilet runs.. water literally runs in the overflow tube in the tank straight to the clogged bowl eventually spilling over onto the floor.
I remember one big lady used the tank of the toilet like a recliner and snapped the tank off the bowl and flooded the unit because she was unable to fit to reach the shutoff valve.
another the guy got pissed because the seat lid wouldn't stay up so he kicked the seat lid into the tank and shattered it, luckily he shut off the water valve.
another one was a daily service call for a clogged toilet for a week, resulted in daily plunging and snaking which always solved the issue for the day. on the last service call for the toilet the boss told us to just replace the f'ing toilet and bring the old one up to the shop for hammer dissection to see what the hell was stuck in the damn thing. come to find out, the large feller that lived in that apartment was passing rock hard logs that were unable to clear the flange diameter of the toilet
snaked a toilet and pulled out a doll before, half ass joked with the resident if he still wanted the doll back. he literally grabbed the end of the toilet snake and untangled the doll hair from the spring coil and tossed the doll back into his kids toy box next to the tub
had a middle aged lady call in a clogged toilet. I was able to plunge for the most part but still didnt flush well, snaked it and recovered an adult diaper. I was a bit pissed and took it to her in a bucket and got the "thats not mine, I have no idea where that came from" answer.
people are f'ing stupid. it was always pleasant to be told its my job to plunge a clogged toilet, not theirs. um no.. its not my job its actually yours.
management always requested us to plunge residents toilet but to ask if they tried a plunger first. reason being is because its more than likely going to evolve into a flooded bathroom if we dont take the call, and the kicker was that we didnt charge for toilet plunge calls.. but if we did it too would result in flooded bathrooms.
man im glad to get away from that job.
