Going one of 2 ways, my 0) passanger fender could use a new paint job. Debating either letting local guy pull it and repaint it or picking up a new fender at Jeep shop that was already painted for a customer that was never installed. The new fender is 300 and I haven’t heard from shops on estimate of painting mine.

I’m going to go check it out. I’m hoping because my jeep is low mileage and previous owner garaged it over last 19 years it may not need blending

I swung by Maaco with my highlines (still raw aluminum) just to see, they quoted $200 each for primer/base/clear. Figured they’d be the cheapest around.

Why not just rattle can it? A can of Rustoleum stops rust is like $6. A couple cases and you could do the whole Jeep. Easy to touch up when it gets scratched too. You can't do that with a professional paint job.

Not concerned about blending in the new paint on to the hood, tub and doors?

That wouldn’t be necessary with a good paint match. Just paint the panel of interest. When paint matching wasn’t so good the blending idea was popular solution.

You could just embrace the inevitable... nothing will completely match and spray paint for the win!

Actually I have a paint gun and am not bad at spraying houses. I need to paint the wife's front bumper and I was thinking about practicing on my TJ.

Last Sunday. They don’t turn out perfect due to an imperfect environment, but the color match is dead on.

Is it a "new" fender or NOS or a factory fender that's been repainted?

"New" body panels tend to be garbage. Most are thin Chinese metal.

If it's NOS or a factory fender in good shape, with good paint on it (regardless of it matching) that's not a bad deal anymore.

I sell all the materials to body shops and you can quoted around me for $800 easy for a pair of fenders. I can also put the paint in a can in either base coat or single stage. Single stage cans are about 30ea and you would need 4 cans and thats the cheapest route

The last year of a new TJ was 19 years ago, most stealerships stop stocking parts for models after they're around 8-10 years old.. we're well into the NOS range lol

I literally just picked up my two doors from Maaco,$675.00 to change the paint color from some sort of gray blueish color ( which almost had me rethink my entire jeep color ) to the stock Patriot blue. No body work , remove door panels and weather strip & mirrors. Not a bad paint job by any means but I guess I'm stuck on 15 year ago prices. Could use a "cut and buff" I'm overall good with the results.

Also just picked up my Artec fenders form the powder coater- Also "Patriot blue " they look pretty darn close, $180.00 for the set to coat. I figure its close enough for my Jeep.
