Other uses for a winch

Here is a better photo. We estimated this log to weigh 1.5 tons. We had no problem rolling the log once we cut the other 1,5 tons off which was not completely round.

Yellow jackets decided the seven boxwoods in my front flowerbed were prime real estate. Wrapped a chain around the base and slowly reeled the winch tight. Pulled all seven out of the ground with the wife standing on the brakes. Always hated them anyway so pulled them, and drug them to backyard and set em on fire.

not necessarily a Jeep application, but when attached to the bulkhead of a pickup facing rearward they are handy for loading large game animals into the bed!
A lot of guys will do this for moose up north too; or even mounted to the front of a trailer facing rearward.

I used the winch to pull some bushes out and didnt have anyone to hold the brakes in my manual LJ. I tried chocking all four wheels and it still kept riding up the chocks so I anchored it to the other Jeep in the garage. Next week when I was doing round two I simply hooked it up to the JL with an automatic and nearly idled the remaining bushes out. It was much easier that way.

I had several rotted fence posts that I had to remove. Worked great to pull the cement ball right out of the ground.

Guess I learned something about cactus today. We don't have them here, I always assumed they were about the texture of a typical potted succulent someone might have in their house. I guess it must get pretty woody to support something that heavy and tall.

Yeah they are very tough and woody.I have a huge century plant(agave) next to my driveway that gets trimmed with a chainsaw now and then so it doesn't impede traffic. An axe would have a hard time with it.

I probably could have used a winch today but it fell right where I wanted it to just using mainstream tree felling technique.

About 14" diameter at the base, ~45 feet tall, oak easily heavy enough to kill me if it fell the wrong way.

Would have been happy to post the photo but forum "ran into some problems" every time I try to insert it.
