Hello All,
I have intermittently been getting a P0057 code that will appear out of nowhere, usually in the middle of long drives. Then it will disappear a few drives later. This same pattern of intermittence occurs with this weird whining noise that happens only when my foot is not on the gas. The whining sound and P0057 appear exclusive to each other. I don't remember if they have occurred both at the same time or not, but I do know one has been present when the other is not. I have attached a video for the noise. Not sure if the sound is related to the code. It is also worth noting that I have noticed a hesitation in power off the cold start when getting onto the gas for the first time. I have done a bit of reading on the P0057 code but I still feel lost, so this is the call for help.
My suspicion for the P0057 is a problem that I have now fixed. I have an odd transmission line setup as I installed a Derale trans cooler. The hard lines for my transmission are cut right under the pre-cats, where I routed the trans cooler and radiator accordingly using hose and hose clamps. This setup leaked all over the Bank 2 Sensor 2 for a time I approximate to be a few weeks before I noticed (it was a fine setup for at least the first few weeks I installed it, no leaking). Don't worry, my 42RLE is fine, and was never starved of fluid. But yes, stupid of me not to check on my jerry-rigging more often.
I cleaned off the sensor best that I can and from what I can tell, the wires are fine. I'm not sure if this would cause the P0057 but I thought it was worth mentioning. I am not very experienced with electrical stuff. Maybe I should replace the sensor? I replaced all my O2 sensors with the correct NGK brand ones using the O2 sensors thread on this forum.
