Lots of great info in this forum. I'm new member, but long time reader. I have a 97 Tj. Lots of mods, 350 chevy painless harness, stock electronics but led lights. Signal lights are my issuse, Lots of info on here but not my issuse. So here goes.

Jeep has sat for last two years due to divorce. Jeep starts and runs fine. Led signal light 3 wire lights worked before. I have check and rechecked my grounds. I have the harness apart now, as I was looking for a short....

When I turn signal lights or 4way on the rear lights will light up. But not flash. I have replaced the Mfs, and relay still no lights.
Lights will work if I touch positive wire at light with a test light, all lights will flash. If I turn on head lights and shut them off they will flash once when turning the head lights off. So I replaced the head light pull switch, did not fix. I noticed that the signal lights and the wipers stayed on with key of.... so started to open up the harness.

At this time noticed that with harness now pulled apart wipers now shut off when key off.

Also noticed signal lights will flash once, when wiper if turn on or off. Also flash once if set on delay will flash once when wipers turns on and again when turning off..... can't find a draw on battery to try an narrow down. I'm at a loss..... any help or ideas would be appreciated. I don't get why the test light on the positive allows it to function, and grounding it out blows a fuse....... help.... please haha, this one has me stumped.

My guess: LEDs don't draw enough current to make the flasher work. Connecting a test light draws enough more current to make the flasher happy. Transients when turning other circuits on or off momentarily cause a change in current, just enough for one flash.

I've seen threads on here about this, but never read them because I don't have LEDs.

I imagine that a different flasher, made for low current LEDs might fix it. Don't know if they exist.

The only common connections in the wiper and turn signal circuits are the ignition switch, which uses the same contacts to provide power to the fuses and the ground behind the left headlamp.

I would take another look at that ground as that would seem the most obvious cause of the wipers affecting the turn signal.

Left headlamp, turn signals, wipers and horn all use that same ground.

I took sand paper to both connections yesterday, lol didn't get me anywhere. frustrating, I will look into to low voltage as suggested.

This is interesting, I will investigate.

What flasher are you using on your ‘97?

It is the stock. I expected to get a at least the hyper flash. I have a led flasher as well but get nothing from it. Was going to go get a 26 from the part store in the am.

I think you need the Novita for 97-00 rigs.
