I had to have my Jeep towed to a shop recently. I used a reputable tow company and the crew who showed up used a tow rig that grabbed and lifted the rear tires off the pavement. They assured me that they had towed a Jeep before. The trans stayed in park, with the transfer case in 2-Hi. With the rear tires securely in the air and the vehicle moving backwards behind the tow truck, I observed the front driveshaft spinning. The vehicle was towed 3 miles in this configuration. Was this bad for any driveline component? Should the transfer case have been in neutral?

Front drive shaft spins anytime the jeep is moving because there are no hub disconnects
Yep, for sure. In this configuration, it was my understanding that the front driveshaft would not have been turning any major component further upstream. Is that correct?
