Nikki's yellow throwback Jeep

I get excited every time this thread pops up.

If you told me at random you were putting those colors together I would say well let me know how it works out-

I like a lot of things about this project but I really like how thorough he was-

I got the opportunity to wheel with @Nickgsjeep last year when we ran Gold Mountain together. I can attest, his Jeep is absolutely beautiful and performed very well on the trail. Hope your doing well Nick, haven't seen you on here in a while. ✌️

Thanks for the compliment. Somewhere early-ish in this thread it’s documented when I hand over the jeep to Blaine to build out to the specs he and I discussed (also in this thread).

I know I am really late to this party, but I love the tan on the yellow, looks great! I picked up my 2001 Solar Yellow TJ about a month ago, and previously owned it, sold it, now I have bought it back. But it came like you see it other than new tires (same size) and new top (exact match of old one, Rampage Frameless). It goes in the shop to re-gear, automatic lockers, all new HD steering and adjustable track bar, rear wheel bearings, and a few other minor issues, all in a couple of weeks. I really feel like I want a hard top and am planning A/C for it as it came from the factory without, I live in FL, but want to take some smaller overland trips too and hard top makes more sense for RTT and awning to me.

Anyway, GREAT build, thanks for sharing, curious i

Welcome back Nick, when we going wheeling again?

Ha ha thanks bud. Sorry I haven’t been around. Life has taken some interesting turns over the last couple years and well let’s just say the jeep had to be put way back on the back burner. Not an excuse to abandon my friends here.

The jeep is in the hands of the wizard right now. It’s been down for a while. Needs a new engine, so with some advice I decided to go with S&J. New engine is here, automatic transmission will be going in along with the new engine pending its condition. I bought the transmission on the word of the seller that it’s in good shape. Have half a mind to send it to a rebuild shop before install just to be safe but we’ll see. Getting new 5.38 gears to go with the auto.
There’s a few other things I’d like to do soon-ish if funding allows, steering, on board air reconfiguring, corner and windshield frame armor, better auxiliary lighting, but will have to discuss with Blaine.

Once I have the rig back which will still not be for a while you know I’ll be jones’n to get out there.

What’s better?

Honestly I don’t know. I guess what I was saying is there’s seats out there by brands like MasterCraft, PRP, Corbeau etc. that are upgrades to the stock seats. These are more or less “ok” replacements. I can say this about them though, of all the times I’ve taken this rig on long road trips and trails, these seats don’t hurt my back. A lot of oem seats in many many vehicles hurt my back. These don’t.
