I keep trying to convince my wife to move to another state, but she’s still here.
I worked at a retirement community in Florida in my late 20s, some people were snow birds others were permanent. It was a nice place with lots of friendly people but plenty of cranky ones too. I can definitely see the appeal.
I live in NY. Cranky was invented here.
yep, 16K in yearly taxes, crowded, tons of a-holes....but since we both work from home we deal with it. Only 55 but If I could solve the medical insurance thing I would be gone already. Realistically maybe another 5 years unless wife loses her nice job then it could be earlier.
I feel for ya - the medical insurance "thing" is a real problem. I was fortunate enough to work for an outfit that announced years back that if you had been working for them for at least 10 years, you could retire at 55 or older and keep their insurance. I have to pay part of it, but they pay for more than half. My thought then was "This changes everything", and I retired at 56-1/2 and got the Hell out of Commiefornia.

Soon is soon. Indeterminate but well on the way. We have samples that needed some small changes. The small changes have been done and the next set of samples are on the way to me for approval. If they are GTG, I'll place the order and then about 5 weeks after that we should have them.
If you are in a terrible hurry, I can let this set of samples go. I doubt anyone but me would know what I don't like about them and would like to improve slightly.
