Seems the Project Jeep has lived an interesting life, she was customer ordered in the NY/NJ region delivered to a NJ dealer then shipped to Hawaii were it spent a few years before being shipped back to the US and Colorado then an elderly couple used it here in Oregon for a few years. Suspect the original owner was military.
Got her stripped down and ready for a final cleaning of the frame in prep for paint. Internals are decent after a good flush, probably install new Nutserts for peace of mind.
Made up a chain flail out of a 4' section of plumbers snake and some small steel chain twisted in. Really slams the frame internals at 500 rpm's.
Worked great, went in both directions and both forward and reverse. Stuck the camera in for a look see and nothing to bitch about.I need to make one of those.
Son picked up another set of Oem's for $20 on his way down the coast (hit and run) Friday afternoon.I suppose you want them front tow hooks back now
#1 Son back at it and we completed the internal frame treatment and external frame paint.
This is a handy trick with zip ties that really improves the application of the internal coating by keeping the nozzle reasonably centered during the application.

#1 Son making good progress lately, he's been thru each system one by one restoring/replacing parts. Going together well and should be back to body work soon.
Gathering weapons to begin stripping accessories from the old tub this weekend, will be interesting to see how a rust free tub comes apart vs my experience with east coast rust
Absolutely amazed that every painted Torx on the body was removed with an ordinary 1/2" drive ratchet and T-40 bit,. No impact wrenches, torches, hammers and drilling. I shit you not it took no more than 5 minutes to loosen every one. Go figure.
did I miss something ? why did it need a new tub ? read this thread 3 time and never saw anything on it needing a new tub....
We had several dinged body areas that weren't worth the effort so we found a decent tub locally.
now we know the rest of the story
I don't mind doing minor body work but it's not my favorite thing and tubs are easier.
We've spent the last few months on body work and we're down to fitting up the body parts and doors, hopefully head to paint within the next few weeks.
