Been lurking for the last couple weeks and thought I should probably start posting as I will definitely have a million (probably super basic to all of you) questions!

I've always wanted a Wrangler, drove a Liberty for a few years and liked it a lot too. A local car lot had an LJ for sale that I couldn't get off my mind, so a couple weeks ago I took the plunge. Here she is as I bought her. I ordered a new soft top, but as we started to take the old one off today realized the frame is broken. So we're considering just replacing it with a hard top instead. I'm giving her a good cleanup for now, and trying to get my head around how everything works. It's definitely lifted, but don't know the specifics. I'm hoping I can take some more pics and get some help on knowing what I've got. But wanted to at least say hi and introduce myself and my new 2005 LJ!

Welcome, clean looking LJ. Here's the chart on how to determine how much lift you have. Measure the length of your coils while sitting on it's weight and compare. You're looking like 2.5 to 3 inches.

Oh that's a great place to start, thanks! The tires are also LT 285/70R17, and says to install on 17" rims, so I know that much too. :)

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking LJ, love the unlimiteds. If you get the hard top I would hold onto the old top. They’re pretty rare, if you decide to offload you can list in the for sale portion of the forum. Have fun with it, miles p/smile. ; )

That's more or less a 33x11.5R17 (actual 32.7x11.2R17). Of course every tire measures differently but that's what they call it.

If you don't know, metric tires go (width)/(aspect ratio)R(wheel diameter). So a width of 285 mm and then the sidewall is 70% of 285mm. You're overall diameter would be 2x 70% of 285 plus the wheel diameter. Or just Google a tire size calculator or comparison lol

welcome out from the shadows and congrats on your best Jeep 🍻

You're in the best forum to gain TJ knowledge. This place will have most of the answers you're looking for and plenty of opinions that you aren't. 😆

Hahaha I'm actually excited to learn! I realized this weekend that I bought into a lifestyle/hobby instead of "just" a car. I already love this thing and have so many plans for it.
