Utah Moab in May 2025

Is it feasible to do a trip to Sand Hollow some year? I don’t know how many trails there are or if there is a central town in the area.

EDIT: Ok, I looked up and remember now. Hurricane, UT, is the town. Trails are around the Sand Hollow Reservoir. Seems like a lot of trails, most on the difficult end of the spectrum, but definitely not all. This would be fun. New terrain.

Elephant Hill and Coyote Canyon are the only ones I'm aware of.

I think Coyote Canyon is what we ran in 2008 but we were told it was called Coyote Ugly back then... You didn't need a permit then either... It's not available the weekend that we're in Moab.

I was talking to @Wildman about maybe hitting Sand Hollow on the return trip from Moab if we aren't too worn out and haven't broken our Jeeps by then.

I'm hoping I'm not broke... Or it's some easy fixes that could happen in a day or two at most...

If we are able how many days are you thinking we'd stay in Sand Hollow? Not that I have any reasons to get home...

IDK. Couple? I would be winging it. Since I work for myself, I'm a little flexible.
Idea of return from Moab to where you live. LOL

I would like to do Sand Hollow sometime

AI says we need a lot of time...

To truly enjoy Sand Hollow State Park, with its diverse activities like boating, off-roading, and hiking, you'll likely need at least 3-4 days, or even a week, depending on how much you want to experience.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Short Trip (2-3 days):
This allows for a taste of the park, perhaps focusing on a few key activities like boating on the reservoir or a short dune ride.

  • Mid-Length Trip (4-5 days):
This provides more time to explore different areas of the park, including hiking trails, off-roading, and spending time at the beach or reservoir.

  • Extended Trip (7+ days):
This allows for a more relaxed pace, with ample time for multiple activities and potentially visiting nearby attractions like Zion National Park.

Consider it a scouting mission for a possible full blown trip next year?

Looking at state park campgrounds there are spots available Sunday 11 May thru Thursday 15 May... You & your wife are welcome to sleep in my motorhome...

Sounds like a plan

Wow jealous

You can play hooky for a few days.... Work won't miss you... You can sleep in your MR2 if you get fired...

Let’s plan a trip next year!

So start planning it... There are a few members who live near the area that might offer to guide us around?

Ha. My work is pretty flexible so I could probably take it off if I wanted. I'll think about it

Well @Woodrow & I haven't put anything into stone yet... This was just a suggestion/idea...

The camping spots seem to be open during the week but booked on the weekends... A 60' pull through spot is only $35 per night...

There are group sites for $125 per night if we got enough people...

Is there cabins? I'm not camping in Moab and don't intend on bringing camping gear
