Utah Moab in May 2025

I need to get my Guide Book back out and look at it to refresh my memory of the trails I'd like to do.

I gotta pay attention to trails I can't do lol. Kane Creek scared the shit out of me. Side of the cliff + no locker was too much. One or the other probably would've been fine but I was pretty nervous at the end of that one. I think behind the rocks and Moab rim would be worse if I'm remembering right

The bugs on Kane sucked

Red Rock Fourwheelers has a decent trail rating guide and gives an opinion on minimum requirements

I'm somewhat of an adrenaline junky so I like the trails that scare the shit out of me.... It's why I did some of the things in the military that I did... Or going 150+ MPH on a bike.... It's also why a lot of combat veterans have issues once they come home... They got hooked on that feeling.

As said before you're more than welcome to ride along on any of the trails you're not comfortable doing.

That other stuff wouldn't bother me - it's heights specifically that I don't like 🤣 and struggling to get up something and sliding to the edge of the cliff just isn't what I wanna do again.

And thanks. I do want to ride along for pritchett, I do also think it would be cool to do elephant hill. Lots of people say it's worth it so if it works out I'd be happy. Also would be happy just riding along, or hanging out in town tbh an off day is also nice.

Pretty sure I can pinpoint when I started being afraid of heights. I grew up in Castle Rock, and I still remember the first time we climbed it, I was very young. My dad's friend randomly scooped me up at the top and held me out arms straight out over the edge up top 🤣

Heights don't really bother me anymore... Part of why I did Air Assault in the Army. Repelling out of a helicopter 150' in the air you sort of get over it. Or jumping out of one 30' in the air into a net suspended in the air.. Now since it's been years I'll have to see how I do again.. But I don't see why I'd have issues.

I only kid. Don't spit in my burrito!

That's wild. You sure get some unique experiences being in the military - imagine trying to do that as a civilian! I wonder if that'd have made my fear worse, or made it go away

If you do a search about Elephant Hill there used to be some articles & videos of people who got to the top and then froze to the point where someone else had to drive their rig off it so you're not the only person who has a healthy respect of heights.

I used to climb to the very top of some of the Evergreen trees on my property when I was a kid. Hanging on to the top branches as the tree swayed in the wind was always cool.. Yes I know I'm a little bent..

This was part of the obstacle course we had to do. You can't be scared of heights to do this.

Interesting. I don't think I'm THAT bad. I just know what I [don't] like. I'd never live that down, either

is that 18'? Aw man that doesn't look fun. Although I did ropes-course stuff in High School and don't remember it being an issue? Who knows maybe it's getting worse 🤣

We didn't have the mats when I used to do this.. But this gives you an idea of how high it is.

The tower is 35' tall...

According to available information, the "Confidence Climb" in an Army obstacle course is typically around 35 feet tall. This obstacle involves climbing up a series of wooden beams with increasing distance between them, testing a soldier's physical and mental strength.

If you want to take a stab at the schedule feel free. We can tweak as necessary.

I was considering putting all the suggested trails into a poll and letting people vote on all the trails they want to do in order to gauge interest for those specific trails.

I like the poll idea.

Agreed... No one is going to make you do a trail you don't want to.. But this would narrow down the trails that most of the group wants to do.

EDIT: Just to be CLEAR.... This comment was for those who might not have attended prior to this.

I like poll idea too. Sorry missed this earlier. I can try to put a simple ranking poll up later today when I'm done working in the garage, if noone else gets around to it first. In a couple hours probably

I can add a poll to this thread but we need to identify all the trails. I have the list in the first post that I’d use but we can add more.

As far as Rusty Nail we could put both options as far as Rusty nail to Golden Crack and back out Gold Bar or Rusty Godlen Spike Poison spider and see how it fares. And we don’t have to all do the same thing each day either.

True yeah, I was just going to go off that list as well. Probably add the "usual" ones that were missing like steel bender, don't remember if there were others. Too bad there isn't an @everyone tag so we can get trail requests first
