It gets a bad rap for sure. I’ve read and will look for a few articles that weigh the benefits of the osprey. Statistics are in favor of keeping it due to its abilities. I think I’m in favor of dropping it completely but I’m not properly informed to really know.
My son went up in one and said the landing on the ship was rough.

I had a buddy who was injured in a vehicle accident that had gone home to recover do some checking up on my ex-wife for me..... She wasn't my ex while I was in Iraq BTW..... But anyhow he'd done some asking and checking around and found out that the bar she worked at she was telling guys that I'd been killed and Iraq.... And getting a sympathy fuck out of it.... So YEP I really fit that meme...

And 25 years later I still don't enjoy fireworks like I used to...

Yesterday, we said goodbye to Jake Ruser, who had recently turned 101. A World War II medic with the 4th Infantry Division, Jake was a living piece of history and one of the most welcoming veterans I have ever met.
We had the honor being welcomed into his home in Philadelphia to hear his story and capture this portrait. As a medic, Jake witnessed the unimaginable in Normandy and the Hürtgen Forest. He was wounded during the war, yet carried himself with humility, kindness, and quiet strength.
Jake was a hero, not only for what he endured, but for who he was.
We send our deepest condolences to his family and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Goodbye, Jake. It was an honor to know you

And the Brits are arresting their WW 2 vets...

Looks like Jake was about 1 year younger than my late father. I had the honor of dancing for a "Maurice" WW 2 vet about 12 years ago or so, he was 96 at that time - I'm sure he's gone now.
