Matching interior trim color

thanks for this.

I need to do the same thing. I had researched a year or more ago and have put it off. I saved this from my research. SEM makes a titanium and a dark titanium that might fit the bill.

“Dash painting: SEM products for vinyl starting with their prep cleaner, adhesion promoter, color coat or classic coat, and then their low luster clear over that. the low luster clear over the top of the color coat is an identical match to the factory sheen. The color coat sheen out of the can is too shiny for those of us that are bothered by such things. The other thing that helped is if you look at the factory paint on the bezels (they are painted) it has a slight texture to it that isn't in the plastic. I put down a good couple of cover coats, then pulled back and misted a dry coat onto the cover coat so it wouldn't lay down and just give it a faint texture. It matched perfectly.“

I think I might have a manuf sticker on the back of my gauge cluster bezel that read Platinum, but like you I could never find a source for the special two tone dash bezel. Only LJ folks seems to know it was a factory package.

down near Daytona Beach there is a wrecking yard that has nothing but TJ/LJ jeeps that he buys from all over the place, rusted out mechanically totaled jeeps. But he breaks them up to their salvagable components and lists them on FB Marketplace (the best I can tell).

Anyway, I am going to drive down and buy a dash bezel or two and experiment a bit. My radio install is on hold for the time being until I can figure this out.

That SEM titanium and dark titanium looks promising.

Sounds like a fun trip. Might find a few other treasures too. The PO of my rig changed to a double din radio, so the original center bezel is lost. I think the one in it now is a metra. I figure that’s easier to find/replace anyway, if I mess it up.

Found my stickers. I was wrong. Interesting, there were two conflicting stickers on the same OEM part. They say Stainless and Silver. The quest continues…

Found this.... after going down the rabbit hole of "what is a rocky mountain edition.... While mine isn't one, it is a unique package for the model year.

I found that after finding some youtube video that was essentially reading word for word a post from here by Chris... this one: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/wrangler-tj-stock-specifications.71/

Where that thread led me to another website where I took the screenshot from. https://sites.google.com/site/jeepchanges/?pli=1

I am sad to report that after all this hunting I am still unable to identify the specific paint code to order some SEM dye/paint. But I have called 3 different paint suppliers for auto body shops and only 2 have laughed at me (well figuratively) and told me that their paints aren't for interiors. The other guy said, hes not afraid to try but he is pretty sure what I am trying to do will not work.

My new center bezel and radio should be arriving this week, I may just paint it black like the rest of the dash, but I am really still hopeful to make it look similar to stock. Time will tell......

I have run into the same problem and have decided, if this is so difficult to match, nobody will ever realize the silver I used was from True Value!!!!!

Finally got around to remedying the faded door panels. The pictures above are from when I purchased the Jeep. Since then the fading has gotten worse..

A local body shop that I used for replacing the passenger front fender that had started to show a spot of rust suggested I dye the door cards. They did an absolutely amazing job with them

Yes.. these are the same spot panels. The color match is perfect. The finish looks brand new. Cost me $100.

Your doors look amazing!

What dye color and brand did they choose?

Any notable tips or advice for folks who would need to talk to a local shop about this?

any competent person working in an automotive paint supply store should be able to color match and mix interior paint/dye. once broke a glovebox door on a s-10 pickup. ordered a new one that only came in black. had auto paint store color match and mix the red to perfectly match the rest of the interior. a friend in the auto body business sprayed it for me with excellent results. couldn’t tell it had been replaced.

I like "Noxid", looking for the correct paint color for the dash bezel for the LJ. I came across a company called ColorBond and it looks like the have all the the correct colors for the Jeep. I pulled the trigger and bought a few cans to see it it will work. I'll let you know.

Got a link? The one I just tried didn't show an option for "Jeep", and the "Chrysler" options were limited.

Got a link here. Also look at the link for the trim color. For my door cards, console, and dash I was told to order the color Agate and cover it with semi gloss. Look on Amazon for your needed color. If you order direct from ColorBond the shipping cost they charge is way too high. My paint should be here next week so I will post a review with pictures. https://www.colorbondpaint.com/pages/paint-selector#chrysler-jump

Glad it worked for you. I'm not seeing any of the tan colors like saddle or camel, which is what I would need.

What did you end of going with to get a good match on the LJ center bezel?
