Hi All,

My transmission on my 2004 TJ 5 speed leaks like a sieve. It looks like I have a leak at the front and one at the rear. I was searching the web for info on changing the seals and found one that spoke about a weep hole in the transmissions between the T Case and the trans. However, this was on the AX15. My question is does this same weep hole exist on the NV3550? Just wondering because the skid plate is a mess and covered with oil. Debating on whether to do the seals myself or bring it to the shop and have it done. Also, Has anyone bought the transmission jack from Harbor Freight? If I do the job myself I will either buy one or rent one.
Thanks,
Lou

You might be talking about a vent hole, not a weep hole like the water pump has, but the vent hole is located up on the top of manual transmissions near the shifter. Some automatic transmissions for the Jeep like the 32RH have a vent hole on the front face a couple inches above the input shaft.

If you buy a transmission jack from HF I suggest you buy jack oil and service it before you ever use it. I have bought several jacks from HF and most of them are low if not dry. So do yourself a favor and service them or you will probably roll a seal. Works for me

I'm Curious, as my 04 Wrangler's NV3550 is also leaking. Did you end up replacing the rear output shaft seal yourself? I keep seeing how to remove the AX15 rear seal which looks easy, but the NV3550 seal is different.
