Hi I’m having a problem with slop in the steering of a Rhd 2003 tj I have narrowed it down to the rubber isolator sleeve type thing on the lower shaft near where it clamps on to the steering box it seems the rubber/polyurethane bit has gone to chewing gum so the pins that go through move from side to side resulting in around 1-2” play in the steering wheel.i can only find the earlier shafts for sale in the uk.
Question
1 do the earlier shafts still fit the 2003 onwards?
2 has anyone had any luck repairing one maybe getting all the rubber out and filling back up with some sort of polyurethane sealant or resin?
3 how much vibration do you think I would get if I welded it up?
I really appreciate any help and glad to have joined this forum as it’s been a goldmine for answers with my past tj,s

Theres a thread I found somewhere that discussed buying a new 97-02 version, pressing off the connection point, and pressing in the 2003-06 end shaft to resolve the steering issue

Thats actually all I have left to do
Believe I asked if its just literally a press to push that pin out and back in, but dont think I got an answer

If it helps, I have a couple I can send over if you want to pay the freight. They are good used take outs from all the steering we install from PSC. You are the single exception where I will find out what the freight cost is prior to your acceptance of the charge. To clarify, parts are free, the ride is not.

That’s really nice of you if you would check the postage cost that would be great?
Thanks.mark

I'll have to pack one in a tube to get the size and weight. After that I get to stand around with my thumb up my ass until I have an address. ;) Private message will work just fine to share that info.
