Looking for gear pattern opinion

Hi. Was overhaul Dana 44 rear.
Adjusted the Gear Pattern and ended Up Like this. Looking for some oppinion to IT.

Backlash is at 0.0072

You are only 1-2 thou shallow.

ADD 1 or 2 thou and let's see. You are VERY close!

Drive side looks low and coast side looks high. My eye tells me you have split the difference pretty good with an acceptable backlash?

Hi Backlash is 0,0072. Thats at the high end of range. Thanks for your Reply.

This picture is showing drive side and is closer to toe than heel? I was think 0.002" too deep...

I would pull 0.002" from pinion and add 0.002" to left side carrier bearing to tighten backlash back up.

Toe to heel doesn't need to be centered perfectly on the tooth although it would be if all things were perfect. Too deep or too shallow is determined by the pattern from top to root. If you pulled 2 thou from pinion, it would be really shallow.

Sure...I was thinking the extra 0.002" on left carrier bearing would get contact closer to the root while tightening backlash.

OP, curious what it looks like with more pinion shim.

Actual its in Drive Side Bit Close to shallow. Removing shims will Bring IT more to shallow Side. Backlash is in Spec.

Will Try 1 or 2 thousands deeper and get a Last Pattern.Not willing to adjust Backlash AS long it stays in Range of OEM Specs.

Would say also can give it a Shot with this setting but it Doesnt harm to do the best Job Which is reachable.

Yeah I think the current pattern is runnable, but if rather have it just a tad bit deeper. Nice work.
