I am considering selling the hardtop from my 2006 LJ Rubicon. Hardtop is in good condition structurally, just faded. I was thinking that I could trade the hardtop in exchange for an LJ softtop/frame plus cash on their end.

What would be a reasonable cash price for a factory LJ hardtop? Haven't been able to find an LJ hardtop for sale in So Cal to use as a benchmark on pricing. Appreciate any insight.

Personally, i don’t think fading is a big deal, as long as it’s solid and waterproof. My opinion, probably 1000-1500?

I can buy a new, non OEM (but pretty close) CamperKing hard top, here in socal, starting at around $1900.

Meaning if a used top was close to that price, or any more in price, and didn’t wow me with good/clean condition - I’d probably seriously consider opting for a brand new aftermarket one?

But, a good shape OEM style (like yours sounds like) for say, $1250, would definitely have my interest if i was in the market?

All the ones I've seen for sale in my area (south florida) are typically listed between $1500-$2000.

I traded my original factory soft + $800 top for a mint condition hardtop. I'm sure you can find someone willing to do a similar deal in So Cal

Market-dependent, wholly.

I have an LJR, and I sold my hard top last summer. I think I let it go for $1100 with no cracks, no fading, and with the wiper module detached. It sat out on FB for many months before I got any serious inquiries. I’m about an hour from Boston, and had it stored suspended inside while waiting for a buyer.

I understand they’re likely more valuable where you are. And other than adding a related search term, I suspect mentioning that it comes from a Rubicon won’t have any bearing on the settled price.

You're in Kali, seems like they go for more out there. If undamaged and faded only, $1500-$1800 for starters, I would think.

For reference, I paid $1200 for a usable one with cosmetic damage out of Wilmington DE. With time and materials in the repair, I'll be over $2000 invested.

Another data point, here in Texas, they go between 1500-3000 depending on the condition. I've been on the look out for one and I've barely been able to find any, let alone in good condition. I found one 5 hours away for 1200 but it was missing the rear window and another one 1 hour away for 1600 but has a crack running through it

Camper King is "local" to you near San Diego but I know many people highly recommend/prefer OEM as it seems most aftermarkets leak. So I wouldn't be scared to price too closely to aftermarket prices. Worse case scenario is you lower it over time

Another Northeast sale here. I let mine go for $900. Sat on FB marketplace for 3-4 months. It had a few dings and scratches.

You're in Cali. The sky's the limit.

You keep saying that about jeep prices here. But I see nice tjs and ljs for comparable prices to anywhere else all the time. And some very good deals occasionally

Crazy fuel prices make rigs like jeeps and fullsize trucks undesirable here

O.P., closest lj top i found was in Roseburg for 1100$. Remember, just because it's for sale at a rediculous price doesn't mean it's going to sell

Clean it up and list it for $2000.

Sold my top in Phoenix a few months ago for $1,600 and the guy drove 5 hours to come get it. You are probably safe $1,500-2,000

I had mine listed at $2,000 and I received messages every day with people bitching it was too high and it’s just a hard top, why so much? I literally had the only one for sale in the area. I set the price. Hold out and a buyer will make a reasonable offer.
