Colorado Krew Hangout

8/12 is my birthday. A friend and I are going to run Red Cone, Webster Pass and possibly Slaughterhouse Gulch if time permits. If you're interested, post up and let's meet at the gas station in Morrison at 8.

I'm for Red Cone and Webster. I'll meet you guys on the road.

I just finished two days in the San Juans with my family. We rented a JLUR Xtreme Recon and a Bronco Badlands Sasquatch since we had a group of 14, and the LJ only holds 4.

It wasn’t crowded anywhere we went, and everyone had a great time!
We must've just missed you. We drove around the Silverton and Ouray area on the 23rd and the 25th. We did Mineral Creek, Poughkeepsie Gulch, and Hurricane Pass one day and Kendall Mountain the other. It was beautiful up there. Unfortunately both Black Bear and Imogene were still closed.

Last night I read that Red Cone has recently been designated an "OHV trail" by the land manager, so it now requires an OHV permit. Just FYI...maybe you all were already aware of that but I wasn't.

Whoop! Got any pics?

05' LJ auto 140k miles. There's rusty nuts and bolts hear and there. Some small body panel cracks above the driver door and tailgate handles. Frame had been painted which raised red flags but everything felt solid and I bought a scope to look inside the rail before I went. That's the one and only thing I know to look for on a TJ. Frame looked good to me. No leaks, runs good, drove great on the interstate. 4H and 4L function. Interior is in good shape. AC and cruise control don't work. New head, water pump, and control arms. I think it might have a 44 in the rear but I need to do a little more research to confirm. Unknown gear ratio.

It's highly variable that time of year. I've been hunting in northwest Colorado with it in the 60s and short sleeves then the next year a foot of snow and 0 degrees. If you're looking for a high probability of nicer weather, I'd head to the western slope (e.g. Fruita area). It's still usually in the 60s and even into the 70s sometimes that time of year. We regularly do rafting trips out there in October in really nice conditions. Or just drive another hour and go to Moab where it's typically in the 70s.
