Colorado Krew Hangout

Who did you find with a brake that big? Is it someone local?
We have a Scotsman at work, but it’s nowhere near large enough to do something that size.

The part he has is pretty small for the engine skid mount. I guess I don't remember how thick it is though!

Is there just not enough of a profit margin or why is that? It seems like there would be a decent market for that.

I never got far enough to ask why they wouldn't make something for me. All I know is that the shops out here wanted a CAD drawing and apparently more than 8 pairs of sliders to bend up.

As far as a market for a better than GR mini boatside, the fab shops don't care what the thing they are bending is. For those that might, the market for the real thing is already small nation wide. Ours as I intend it to be would cost much more to produce for retail than what GR sells. And no one would buy it because it wouldn't have steps.

I have it on good authority that everyone here is in danger of being called a mall crawler this year. Where are we going wheeling next weekend? I was thinking the north and middle forks the swan river and georgia pass. What do you think?

Its been a rough year. Hard to believe July is already over. I think I am around next weekend (8/5 & 8/6).

I don't know if it was the rain just killing the excitement at the beginning of the season or what. I went 3 days in a row in June and then I just either haven't felt like going or haven't even thought about going.

The rain and snow haven't helped. Personally, I've just had too many other things going on this year.

I just finished two days in the San Juans with my family. We rented a JLUR Xtreme Recon and a Bronco Badlands Sasquatch since we had a group of 14, and the LJ only holds 4.

It wasn’t crowded anywhere we went, and everyone had a great time!

I didn’t drive it myself since I didn’t trust the other two drivers on the trails with the manual transmission in my LJ, but my son and son-in-law swapped several times the JLUR and the Bronco. They said both were super nice. They both handled the biggest obstacles we encountered flawlessly.

They agreed that the bronco was nicer to drive on-road, probably due to the IFS, but the Rubi was better on the trails. Better engine braking due to a proper V6, instead of the 4-cyl in the Bronco.
