Colorado Krew Hangout

Seems like there are a lot of varied opinions on running beads. I am getting ready to pull mine back out and just static balance my current set of tires. I have not been thoroughly impressed and the balance has never been great.

I started with around 8 oz, went to 12oz, and stopped at 16oz. I'm tired of breaking the inner bead down to add beads without any measurable improvement.

I will go back to zero and drive it to see how bad it is before I use tape weights. I guess if it really drives like crap, I will know they did something.

like abendage stated, it harks back to my two wheel days.

always wanted to try it on the jeep.

Definitely post up your results. I’ve never tried them on anything larger than a motorcycle. I’ve used Counteract brand on my motorcycle and they recommend 14 oz for the 37’s so I was going to try that. I’ll probably mount one up without first and throw it on the balancer to see how far off they are. If they only need a few ounces of weight I might do stick ons.

I'll let you guys know for sure. I figured it would be the cat's ass on something where balance could frequently change (mud on the tire, chunks out of the tread, gouges out of the beadlock ring). Maybe I am expecting too much?

I ran SX Swampers in both 33x15.50 and 36x12.50 on my '69 Bronco back in the 90's. I would frequently run 70 to 80 with no issues up and down both I-25 and I-80 on a spin balance. I would like figure out why these radials are so shitty at 65 to 70.

I’ve had trouble with the 37’s on the stock JK wheels. With no tire on the rim the rim spins true, but once the tire is mounted they look like they are bent when spun on the balancer. We got them zeroed out on the spin balancer but there’s still a wobble above 60 or so. Hoping it is a rim problem and these Walker Evans fix it.

I've used " Equal " powder to balance 19.5 " Class A Motor home wheels . The crap actually worked, we had shaking / bouncing at 63 mph and after the Equal I ran it up to 90 m.p.h and it was smooth , all you could hear was a 454 sounding like a jet boat ! Who knows why results can be inconsistent .

that’s awesome, thanks for the offer,

i personally have always wanted to try the balancing beads, but you’ve got to find the right shop or do it by yourself.

First off, I trailer my rig most of the time so keep that in mind. I have used Daisey BBs in mine for about 5 years. In my IRocks and my Toyos. I use about 8oz of beads. I can run down the roads in Moab with little to no vibration. I tried these because I heard that the Air Soft BBs break down. Just a thought for you.

P.S. Altitude Tire and Alignment in Buena Vista will mount and balance tires for you.

I had a rattlesnake in my bathroom when I lived in Wyoming. He was coiled up behind the toilet. Scared the hell outta me. He wasnt very big (maybe 10"). We closed the door and put down a bunch of sticky mouse traps and caught him that way.

Aren’t the little ones the ones most likely to strike?
