I’m such a fan of anything automotive. Junk/salvage yards draw me in like art museums draw in the yuppies.

I originally stopped to ask about an axle. After finding out I could freely walk the yard, which is much more rare these days, I was out there with no real game plan. I found myself traversing every inch of the yard, looking at every car and truck and dreaming about what it had been or could be.

I’m confident @Squatch is the same way.

I tried to take the Dana 300 home, but he wouldn't back off $350.

You and I definitely would get along great! (y)

I have a friend of mine who grew up in a "car family". For summer vacation (every two to three years apart), her dad would pack up the family, and they'd hit the road traveling across several states. Their sole purpose? Hitting every wrecking yard he could find on the back roads and in small towns. Not too sure how much she enjoyed it, but man, I wish he would've adopted me!

Love the pics, @Fouledplugs. Thanks for sharing!

I could not have left without that Chevelle wagon. Seriously. I had one back in the early 70's. Big rat motor, tubed, lowered. Those were the days, then life happened. Oh well.

Wagons are pretty hot now. Coworker has a 65 or 67 Ford galaxy wagon? Not sure if they called the wagons anything different. All original and it’s damn cool. She gets offers on it every time she drives it. She wil never sell.

Looks like a fun day at the junkyard.. when I was a kid my dad and I would goto junkyards... great memories.. one place we went the guy build a Jeep truck 4 door thing and would let me drive it around the yard..

If I was his neighbor, I would have begged to go along too.

Ive been looking for more yards to go and explore. It’s more rare these days to be allowed in though.

I keep getting a desire to have an elcamino for all this junk yard exploring. Just dreaming.

Very cool! There are 3 junkyards close to me that i frequent but the good ones are a couple hours away and in the fall i'll drive out there just to walk around and take pics. Those have the good old iron resting about.

Man, you always take great pictures. Very cool!

I'm the same way with junk yards. I couldn't afford to buy anything aside from a few parts from any of them, but that never has really mattered. I just like walking around and eyeballing everything. Bonus if the yard is like the one in your pictures, with trees and scattered throughout. Never been to one like that before though.

I don’t know of any places with old classics near me. The one close to me is a salvage yard. I'd say there's nothing picture-worthy there, but I did take a couple of pictures the last time I was there. It seems there's always, at least one thing at any of them that's interesting.

This Vanderhall had seen better days, but it was fun to look around and eyeball the mechanics of it.
