hello everyone, I have a Jeep TJ(1999) 4.0L, straight 6, I’ve noticed for awhile every time I accelerate I hear a noise where it’s just a rapid ticking, when it is in idle it dosent tick until I hit the gas pedal then it ticks, is this a sign of a exhaust leak? Please help!!

Probably a cracked exhaust manifold.

It must be loud I can hear anything once I'm rolling... and I have a 99 4.0L manual too...

Hopefully the ticking is nothing like what was in the movie "speed" as you cant drop below 55 !..mine would struggle to get to 55 haha

Also might want to lift the hood and put your hand on the top of the OPDA while the engine is running. A "ticking" sound was what got my attention to my OPDA needing replacement. Those are not something you want to learn to live with if they are making noise. Some have a squealing noise from their faulty OPDA's but mine was definitely a clicking sound and I could feel the knock when I placed my hand on top of the unit.
