Hi everyone, Last week i noticed that my A/C dial was leaving the A/C half on when off. It turned out to be the knobs that were cracked in the rear, replaced them and they are working fine now.

The other day while driving at about 30-45mph suddenly the A/C was blowing harder from the vents and after a few minutes the intensity went back down. It does it every now and then i noticed. Its cooling fine, even better after adding the hothead liner for my softtop. Im not sure if that intensity is how it should be all the time, but at the lowest fan seting it barely blows, so after looking up older threads on this issue , I think i might have a vacumm issue somewhere.

Theres also air constantly blowing from the vents under the dash. When i first turn on the A/C it blows first throught the windshield vent and later to the front vents. The temp dial is working fine.

Im not very familiar with the A/C system so any ideas what to look for or where to beguin would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you may have a intermittent vacuum leak as that can affect vent choice and airflows.

With your hands follow each line from the intake manifold connection to it's terminus and feel for cracks and dry rotted rubber fittings.

thats what im thinking since theres just a change in intensity, which lines could be the culprit? the one in the engine bay seems fine, but thats as far as i got. I saw a vide of a guy using a brake bleeder connected to the vaccum in order to find it, not sure if that would work.

Edit: thanks for the diagram, im gonna check that next!

Any one of the hoses if leaking will affect the system so start at the intake manifold and work one line at a time, there should be at minimum a main vac to the brake booster, vapor recovery system, cabin HVAC and cruise control if equipped. Be sure to thoroughly inspect the rubber fittings.

In fact the vacuum line was broken.
Just replaced it with a new oem and the ac is working as it should now.
