Insulation options for hardtop

I've seen that before, but I don't trust those Velcro fasteners to hold up for any length of time in the Arizona heat, especially being right on the top. Over the course of a few years, I have lost 2 sets of roll bar speakers, multiple roll bar grab rail handles, and a CB internal speaker due to the extreme summer heat. I just do not trust Velcro (or that adhesive) to last any length of time.

I installed these on my LJ, look nice but don’t stay up. The Velcro stays attached to the headliner and to the roof but doesn’t hold together. I had one panel replaced but same thing. I see the problem is that the panels are flat (thin wood) then wrapped with fabric and the roof is curved causing the center of the panel to pull away from the Velcro. I may pull the roof off and silicone them on.

Yup. I used heavy-duty-sticky velcro strips to hold two hand-cut, lightweight felt pieces (front/rear) on the hard top. Looks great. I park under the apartment building and out of the sun here in South Florida — held up nicely until I had to temporarily park in the open parking lot next door for a day — one day in the tropical sun, the adhesive softened and the felt drooped. Velcro only works if you park out of the elements.

Thanks for the info. My Jeep lives outdoors in the full sun year-round, either in the driveway at home or the parking lot at work. 3 car garage and more than 3 vehicles means some have to stay outside.
