How do you keep your tail gate open when in camp?

I have that exact setup. Bought it from an industrial door supplier. Works pretty well…

I did the same thing and it works great. I used a piece of PVC (3/4" x 1-1/2") and added a magnetic bar so I can mount utensils to it while cooking on the tailgate table I built.

I use a Trail Tarp that attaches to the cargo basket at one end and is staked out at the other end. Pulling tension into the guy lines pulls the tailgate shut regardless of whether I park on rocks, hi-lift one side or park in the opposite direction. Plus, the views are what they and turning around could jeopardize a killer view.

I am going to go for one of the industrial door stoppers.

The other thing about the magnet is that when I'm not using it, which is 99+% of the time, it sticks to the body. I put it on the carpet by the base of the roll bar with the magnet side down and it stays put.

I took a piece of oak, painted it black, and cut it to lodge in the hinge. I pack it with my recovery gear. Super easy.

I bungee my spare to my rack and it works great. Nothing to trip over after campfire beverages have been consumed.

Update...

Shopped a bunch of different door stoppers that could have worked but ultimately order the Gate Keeper from American Outlaw Jeep Parts.

Install calls for three self tapping screws through the tailgate inner skin but the screws were not self tapping. Decided to use nutserts instead. Additionally, the installation instructions point out that you can install it at the upper or lower hinge. I opted for the upper hinge and the keeper sits just above the Bestop InstaTrunk without issue.
