My 2000 4.0 has been running hot
I have flushed the system out
Installed new radiator new 160 thermostat all new hosaes and fluids

Still having some issues but have gotten improvement
Thinking it’s time to swap out the pump.

Would like input on running a flowkooler hight rate pump
Pros?
Cons?
Thanks for serious replys

What is "hot"?

Actual number wise. Like real number.

Water pump either works or doesn’t, there’s no in between. Mine has a Gates pump and it works fine in 115+ summer temps with the AC on in rush hour traffic. My vote is something else is going on.

Temp? What brand radiator? Chemical flush? Thermostat should be Stant 195.
p.s. If all else fails, it might have the 00-01' cracked head issue.

It wouldn't hurt to pull the water pump and inspect the impeller . If it has a metal impeller it could have lost some of its impeller from corrosion . It is also possible for an impeller to get loose on the shaft and not spin properly .

It wouldn't hurt to pull your water pump and inspect it . Also , you should consider a Flowcooler Robert Shaw high flow 195 degree thermostat .

the 160 did nothing for you....it'll give you a couple more minutes of warmup but the peak temperature you reach will be the same.

In the winter you'll be getting check engine lights from running too cold.

I ran a Flowkooler water pump but removed it after a few months. It worked too well, actually. So much it was running too cool and was throwing codes. The gasket that came with it was junk, BTW.

Have you tried Waterwetter additive? It actually does work when mixed correctly.

You had other issues. Gimmicks don't do things better than the factory parts. There is no UPGRADE that has been proven. 🤫

Meh. Could have been the ECM hadn't learned to deal with the change in temperature. And Waterwetter does work for me. It's not dramatic by any means but it does work.

Priced this out, this is around $587.51 using the forum links. Only thing you can't get is that radiator - but you can get a premium off RockAuto for 284 or go with an economy replacement for under $100 to bring down the cost.

Honestly, not a bad expense in total for peace of mind.

Denso seems to be a decent option for the radiator.

I ran a chemical flush
Then when I discovered the hoses I made an adapter to connect the garden hose to and ran water both directions till clear

The temp was above 210 and turned the red warning on

The only parts left to replace are the pump and fan cluth
I will get these replaced and update the chat
Thanks for the help

When I’m running 60 the temp is south of 210 but at 70:it’s running up there
I don’t remember it running this hot last year
