I’m trying to get the doors off my 2006 TJ. The PO installed these weird nuts on teh bottom that are recessed into the hinge. Looks like I need a special tool, but have no idea what that is!

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks all....it was just a bushing that needed some elbow grease. Doors are now off! View attachment 530854

That is a gorgeous TJ- wow!

I replaced my hinge sleeves today. What a pain in the A** omg. Had to take off one hinge to remove the old sleeve. I got very lucky and was able to remove it without blowing out / stripping the hex bolt. Luck + patience, I guess:

That's a torx bit. Hex would be a fucking nightmare when those bolts seize up.

Man, Im slipping the older I get- you're correct, my mixup. That would be a nightmare. Bad enough clenching your cheeks in the hopes you don't strip a torx bit. Which is how I feel every time I need to removed one of these.

My TJ came with wheel adapter held together with red loctite and 6 8mm hex bolts. I don't think I will ever buy something with adapters on it ever again.
