I bought a 200oTJ which I love but the people before me painted the interior black and it is starting to come off in places. I really want to take it back to original colors but am having difficulty finding used parts in my area. Is there a way to take the black off safely and/or just paint the original color(tan) on top of the black? It is both interior doors, dash, and center console (may just buy new center console). Thanks for any information you can help me get started. I have tried to remove the black with home remedies but nothing is working well.

SEM products makes spray paint that many use to paint the plastic interior pieces. I have the same issue as you where the prior owner used cheap spray paint and trashed the interior. Not sure how it will work to cover existing paint. Sure someone has experience with your issue.

I used a citrus paint stripper on a door panel and it took spray paint right off and did not hurt it.. I removed panel from door brushed on and sprayed off with water 15 minutes later ! I dont know about dash ? Brush it on and wipe it off ????
I bought the stripper at home depot it was a orange cream looking paint stripper and it didn't hurt plastic door panel, you could remove center console and do same.

I will give it a try. Thanks. Hopefully I can get most of it off and then repaint OEM color. 🤞🏻
