Help With Gear Pattern Check

What do you think of these? I cleaned everything up real well and I've learned that my gear marking compound can be 90% gear oil. I decided to add in quite a bit more shim to the pinion because the drive side looked really shallow in person. I was trying to land somewhere between my first two tries above. My backlash is a little tight so I'll need to open that up a bit. I'm thinking I may pull out .002 from the pinion and try that, but this looks close to me.

I don't know what you did, but you are very close now. You don't need to thin out the compound that much. Look at this picture, you see how runny and how much excess compound there is? The part of the pattern I can see looks good, but I can't verify what's going on at the root with all of that excess there. If it is what I think it is, you are either there or maybe need to drop one thou.

I wasn't able to drop .001 but i did a test dropping .002 and here is what I got. I think the previous deeper pattern was better. Here it looks like the pinion is taking the paint off the very top of the face on the drive side. What do you think?
