Disappointed but the doors are on, and she’s getting necked.

You're being hard on yourself. For a home job - those look pretty good to me.

The unfortunate situation you find yourself in is that black is (arguably) one of the hardest colors to paint. It does the closest to being a mirror...

It's easy to see the flaws in a small garage - wait until they're outside. Perhaps less, close-in reflections will help.

If you are as much a home DIY painter as I am - I'd be happy with where you got to on a first (or first 5) tries. I'd beat myself up too, hoping that it would look pro - but you aren't. So take a win that you did the job yourself!

Does the painting never end on these? Jeep didn’t paint the whole grill?

No - The painting never stops...

You bought a 20+ year old vehicle. Get used to it.

BTW - I thought I was doing pretty good (and I was up to about 10 years ago) keeping up on paint and protection for mine - and it now has all the issues of an 'ok' maintained Jeep.... (rust)

They're a lot of work but fun! So embrace ;)

Thanks for the support. I love learning and working in the garage, and always want to do it the best I can. It’s hard to not get frustrated.

At least it’s getting time to light the welder up, and you know what they say about a grinder and paint, lol.

Some bug got me on Sunday and spent all week fighting it. Still nagging, but it’s the weekend so I’ll drink through it.

Hood chopped, (we’ll see if enough). Painting the f’ing primed sides of the grill (WTF?)

Alright, PSA, fuck the cheaper clear at RE paint supply, for $3 more spraymax is the jam.

Somehow the little spots on the grill I painted are like glass compared to the other things I’ve painted. Only difference is the clear.

Bout an inch or so to slide back when I pull the sway, but not in love with the CavFab predator.

More f’in paint.

The MC tails are as good as I could fine, basically Savvy knockoffs offs. MC has aluminums to in the same range, MC plastic was $80 for the pair.

Spent about a half hour each flap disking the recovery points and smoothed them out pretty good.
