So my niece msgs me that:

"I was driving it around and I started dumping fuel everywhere on to my engine. I had a blue o ring pop off the fuel rail it was scary"

Local shop says she needs a new fuel rail. Is this true?

Its a 2006 4.0 6cyl. If she needs a complete fuel rail. How much should it be to have replaced?

This part is what popped off she said:

Hard to say, it'd have to be examined to see how the o-ring popped out. Has anyone worked on the fuel rail or had to disconnect the fuel line from it in recent history? My first thought is to just replace the o-ring and reconnect the fuel line but without seeing it it's hard to know what to recommend.

Thank you so much, Jerry. Ill get pics.

I would replace it. That is the pulse damper assembly. Looks to me like the clips failed or it got bumped. Either way I wouldn't trust it anymore. If that came off when the engine was hot it could be a total loss event. Dealer for new, junkyard or Car-part.com for used.

Replace the entire fuel rail or just that silver cup?

Does your current fuel rail have a Schrader valve? My '06 didn't have one. I replaced mine with a used one with a Schrader valve that I got from Davey's Jeeps. Suggest you do the same. I don't think you'll find an aftermarket rail with the valve, but I could be wrong.
