I am a new first time 65 year old 2006 jeep cj owner. Found a really sweet, well maintained one that only had 62,000 miles on it. I have had it a month and am having a fuel issue. Only happened twice but once when my wife was driving so I need to determine issue. It runs fine but twice it had died while driving down the highway. The first time it started right up but the next time not. The engine will fire but will not pick up and continue to run. The second time I let it sit for 20 minutes and it finally started after several tries. I just learned there is not fuel filter on gas system. Interested if anyone has had similar problems. My first thought is fuel pump but am curious if the fuel pump can come and go as it has in my case. Thanks in advance for helping the ole man out.

I had similar issues in my old xj and it was the fuel pump but maybe some one else can put in some input. My eventually started wouldn’t start at all and died on a trail.

Thanks Blank. Haven't had any more issues but I suspect it will happen again. The check engine light came on but cleared itself before I could get it a meter on it. Thanks again.
