97 TJ, base model with four angry squirrels.

PO did what I believe to be either a 2” or 2.5” suspension lift.

Since owning it I’ve added a winch and mounting plate that has sadly added 100lbs to my front bumper.

I’m considering the possibility of adding a coil spacer up front to compensate for the added weight. We have a lot of roads with cross ditches to mitigate erosion and I find my reduced up-travel is causing me to bottom out on the bump stops more frequently.

Can’t remember the members name on here but he had the JKS adjustable coil spacer. A viable option but somewhat expensive due to shipping to Canada.

TL;DR - what size coil spacer would be appropriate to compensate for roughly 100lbs of winch + mounting plate.

How much ride height are you wanting to add? That's how much spacer you need.

Would it be worth considering a synthetic line to remove weight up front if you have a steel line on the winch?

Most just add a 3/4” spacer to compensate. If it were me, I’d find the extended length of the shock, find out how much usable down travel the spring can support and get a spacer that will match that.

All good ideas gents. In hindsight I wish I measured what my ride height was before and after, then I’d have no need to ask you guys but basically I just want to add back what I lost from the additional weight.

As far as synthetic line I have considered it, although somewhere I read that the steel cable help act as a heat sync to dissipate heat from the winch. But I doubt I’d be in a situation where the amount of winching needed for that would be an issue.

If you want it 1" higher, get 1" spacers. 1.5" higher? 1.5" spacers. Only you can determine what you want.

At the very most I imagine I’d only need 3/4” to 1”.

If you want the more correct answer, you need to take a close look at your shocks.

Measure your lift height.

Determine shock travel

Add a spacer that will put your shock in the middle of its travel at ride height.

The steel cable and hawse fairlead I replaced on my superwinch was only 21lbs.
