Frame rot

I used Safe T Cap on a 1st gen Toyota Tacoma a few years back. One thing I can say is they make a quality part as does Pocono metal. I can tell you it will snow ball (as does every project) but It really does hold up well. I went with the 3 section style as it allows for a little bit of movement / adjustment. Coating wise, I went with an internal coating from Eastwood but have since used fluid film. Overall, the project turned out great and is holding up well but was very labor intensive.

Since I am a sucker for a good deal and always need a project around I have a 2005 Rubicon that I plan to frame swap this winter. Found a perfect frame that I plan to have blasted / powder coated and try my hand at that this go round. I will be curious to see the amount of time I will have in this project. Either way I don't think you can go wrong.

When most frame repair shops do it, they put the lift pads on the frame to body bolt locations.

That makes sense to me but I don't have a lift, ill be rolling around on concrete.
I could probably use can jacks on these body mounts to add some support, they are small enough to not be in the way too much.
Lucky for me my body mounts aren't too bad and still have a bit of life left in them.

With all the cutting and welding involved with a full frame repair, doing it while lying on your back is going to be quite a challenge. Will you be cutting with a torch or a saw?

A lift is a luxury I wish i had.
I have both a acetylene torch and a whizz wheel. I was going to hold off on the torch until I get sick of it and blast it

I keep pushing the start date, until I finally get enough confidence to start.

Yes you COULD but SHOULD you? No

Jacks are for lifting while jackstands are for holding.

Whatever you do be careful under there.

I'd recommend getting a quality set of tall jack stands for all 4 corners. Not trying to discourage you....it can definitely be done. Just be sure to cut out and clean up ALL the rusted metal. My one regret is that I didn't ask the shop that did mine to coat the inside with Steel It before welding on the repair pieces. Good luck when you decide to tackle it.

One question...looking at your photo....how far up does the rot go in that section above the lower control arm mount? Are you going to have enough good metal left for a solid weld? I think you need about an inch.

Point taken, i suppose is was still planning on only using them for added pressure.
I have 4 big jack stands for the axles and this will be high enough to sit and do most the work.
I what i was thinking is that the bottle jacks could be used after the jeep is on jack stand to just add to the body mounts to help prevent the frame from buckling. I have never used jack stands on the body mounts before

There is one spot on the driver side that has me concerned above the lower control arm. The rest of it should be okay to weld to, ill post pictures when i start working on this.

When I get rid of this one there won't be any more. My garden is full. 🤫

Famous last word's my friend, Famous last word's!!!!! :ROFLMAO:

I Googled it before doing it. 🤫

Home Burials Are Legal

The good news is that home burials are completely legal — or at least not explicitly forbidden — in every state except California, Indiana, Washington and the District of Columbia. In D.C., it's a space issue, as in there is no space. In California, it's a real estate issue. The concern is that future landowners could subdivide parcels and accidentally dig up undisclosed graves. According to California law, anyone who "deposits or disposes of any human remains in any place, except in a cemetery, is guilty of a misdemeanor" and could face jail time or a fine up to $10,000.
