Flush mounted LED pods for reverse lights?

Not quite what you want to do, but mine has these little bars connected to the backup lights. They are one of my most appreciated additions, especially now when daylight is in short supply.

It has adjustable brackets. Thinking of mounting under the bumper centered with a switch. I haven’t measured yet but it might even mount to the tank bolts. It also is available in different lengths.

I recently installed this bumper. I need to wire in the lights yet, can I just connect just two of them to the reverse lights? Or should do they draw too much power?

I built a bracket to hold my third brake light and a pair of lights. Now, not wanting to blind anyone in parking lots so I wired in a relay to supply power to them. I spliced into the factory back up lights to provide a switched power source to trigger the relay. It doesn’t matter what type of light you use, but I’d put it through a relay. In my case, I used the cable through the tailgate to light the brake light and used that ground for the lights. They are great in the woods.

Another option is to have a multi position switch that allows; with reverse in one position, override on, and off (for parking lots).

I did a double throw switch on aux backup lights. Center off, up goes on only with reverse lights and down on full time.

I have many lights setup with a DTDP switch set to a relay with a 12v constant on one side and a trigger on the other from whatever source works for that application.

On my Excursion I placed a 32" light bar below the Reese hitch that I wired to an early 80's metal floor switch. That way I do not need my hands to operate the reverse lights when needed. Very heavy duty metal switch that actuates with ease. Also very handy when cars behind you just forget to turn off their high beams, I just give them a friendly reminder....

Wow.... Now that's a childhood flashback. Those switches were for highbeams if my memory is right. Actually.. I had a 70's Alpha Romeo that had one for the wipers. LOL.. yep a momentary foot switch for the front wipers.
