I have many lights setup with a DTDP switch set to a relay with a 12v constant on one side and a trigger on the other from whatever source works for that application.
On my Excursion I placed a 32" light bar below the Reese hitch that I wired to an early 80's metal floor switch. That way I do not need my hands to operate the reverse lights when needed. Very heavy duty metal switch that actuates with ease. Also very handy when cars behind you just forget to turn off their high beams, I just give them a friendly reminder....
