My Son Daughter and I took a run with the Wranglers into the local San Bernardino Mts Fathers Day. We started from Greenspot rd and went up 1N13 to 1N09. Stopped at the falls at the confluence of the Santa Ana River and Bear Creek. Met and had some beers with newfound friends. Then made our way to Seven Oaks to view the carnage from the recent massive flood event the area experienced. The power of Mother Nature is unbelievable. All the bridges and many portions of the road washed out. Riverbed is now 15-20’ lower. Along the whole trip there were many wash outs, rack falls and very deep ruts. Glad to have 4-1 low and lockers. I’ve never seen the forrest roads this bad. Ended in Angelus Oaks for lunch. Daughter paid which was a first for me. All in all a great day spending time wheeling with the Kids. Got to see the full articulation of the TJ and YJ. A little tire rub but no apparent damage to either Wrangler. It’s amazing what I have just 20 min from the house.

My wife and I ran that last week too. It was my first time on that trail and it was amazing, so pretty. I loved all the creek crossings. We came up from Big Bear, so we started on Clark Summit, it was beautiful, but I hated how close I was to the edge, very butt puckery. Super fun trail overall, we are talking about doing it w/ the kids next wekend.

here's a map of the area, we started at the brown waypoint, took Clark summit to City creek to the 18 back to the hotel. On the way up from OC we took Adler, to City Creek to summit. It's not hard or technical like John Bull, it's more a mind F for me cause I'm scared of heights.

Wife and I did the Clark Truck Trail last year. We went up and had lunch in Big Bear. Lots of rock falls and you are inches from instant death. Scariest thing about the trip for me was coming across all the mountain bikes towards the top. My Son and I went from the Santa Ana river up to Moonridge a few yrs back when the road was still open. Got to the top and found ourselves in the middle of a mountain bike race. Lots of strange looks when we crossed the finish line. When people think of Forrest Service roads think of nice graded gravel roads. I don’t know what they do with the money from the Adventure Passes but is sure is not road maintenance
I've never run this trail, is it very difficult? Is this near the Forest Falls area?
With the current conditions a high clearance 4X4 is needed. Cars used to be able to traverse 1N09 but west of Bear Creek was very difficult and anything low or 2wd will not make it anymore.
There’s nothing by forrest Falls because it butts up to the Wilderness area. Stop at the Mill Creek ranger station and pick up their OHV guide. 1N16 starts just west of the dam on Greenspot Rd you have to go though a new housing development but there are green signs to direct you to the trail. Heading from the range station the next access is on 38 at Thurman Flats. It comes up fast at hwy speeds. This takes to to the Morton Peak fire lookout. If the volunteers are there you can climb up it and the view is fantastic. If you continue past the lookout it becomes 1N12 and takes you to Angelus Oaks. I highly recommend lunch at the local cafe. Just past Angelus Oaks turn right and take Mill Creek Rd which takes you down the 1N09 which runs along the Santa Ana river. From there you have the choice of numerous routes. If you go right on 1N09 and follow the river you’l end up back to 38 at South Fork campground. It will take many trips to cover all the available routes. Very hard to get lost but some trails see very little activity.
