Short back story when I bought my Jeep it had a set of cheap LED headlights.
  • Brighter than stock -yes
  • Focused beam pattern - no
  • Visual appealing -Not to me

Bug eye LED lights on the passenger side new traditional glass lenses E code spec H4 n the drivers side.

So these lights bring back the traditional headlight look however with the supplied 55/65 watt bulb they were dimmer and the 3500k color range just didn’t seem to cut the darkness like the 6000k do. So some months have passed since the switch back to halogen- Considered moving up to a brighter version of the halogen H4 but…I read up on the Auxbeam LED and the attention to the chip placement. I drank the cool aid and order a F15 version of the H4- not the brightest option Auxbeam offers but a step up from Halogen. At $35 a pair they seemed to be a good pairing to with the Bus Depot e-codes.

Nice side. Merit of running LEDs is I could tell the difference at idle stacking the halogen headlight load, heater motor and seat heaters load on the electrics.

Still light outside but you can see the e-code pattern is still a crisp cutoff. Tomorrow I might actually get to try these after sunset. a missed taking the photo f the color difference/brightness but it’s is quite noticeable. So I know a few people bought the Toyota units so just sharing that these maybe something to consider if you want migrate over to LED.

Lets hear more of your opinion after snow ice an ice fog. Led may not have enough heat for the winter.

I know about what you speak.. the bulbs have cooling fans and you can feel warmth on you hands in the light beam. Not as warm as a halogen but interesting that you feel anything at all at 6”. Did not have issues with the bugged eye versions but it takes a good wet snow we don’t always get for a proper test. It is the reason I am keeping the factory fogs running a 55watt h3 bulb…just in case.

Garage sale today so finally the Jeep fits back in garage and can do a better pattern check.

Low beam

High beam

Late last night was my first time getting a chance to use the headlights - had to run me down a teenager doing donuts behind my fence in the empty sub last night. Was immediately noticeable it was brighter.. I know that AUX beam has brighter lights but honestly when compared to the stock Halogen wattages these F15 are already significantly brighter. I would be concern with their other bulbs if you dont get to bright.

Doesn’t get dark till after 10:00- I will update a road illumination picture when the opportunity presents.

I have e-code Hella housing too. I just replaced some Beamtech LED's with Auxbeam F-22's. While using low beams, I got lights flashed at me a time or two the first few times I was out. Lowered the lights just a bit and haven't had any issues since. The high beam pattern is much better than the Beamtech's were even though they are in the same housing.

The Aux beam seems to be on point with the chip placement if you can run the F22 on the street without issue post adjustment. the other reason I went with the F15 is I am cheap. 😁

I am just overall pleased to have the traditional glass headlight back and with the LED benefits for under $90.

I had the same issue with the Beamtechs in the Hella E-housing. Great low beam, but the high beam was so scattered that it was useless.

I liked them initially, but yeah after getting more time to use the high beams, I wasn't happy with them. I agree with you on the lows, they were great.

I have the beamtechs in the H4 housings. The low beams are wonderful, the high beams are a bit splatty. But they're so much better than any other headlite I've ever used, that I'm perfectly happy with them. Best of all: Glass lenses, the way the Gods intended.

I went with the E codes too. I ran the standard halogens in them for the better part of a year. Low beam sucked. High beam was meh! I ended up going with these, for $50. I got them in December and finally installed them when I had my engine out.
The difference is "night and day" I couldn't be happier with the Auxbeam. I am a little worried about the snow next winter but I remember coming across some stick on heating elements that were clear other than the grid which should be thin enough to not obstruct the light too bad.. I'll have to see if I can find it again. If I do I'll edit this post with a link...

Just to give a honest feed back loop…. Ice, ice baby. Could not tell a difference running down the trail but if the snow had been heavier it would have built up.

Keeping the fog lights with the H3 and intentionally not going all led was a good decision.

My thoughts exactly. The E-codes and Auxbeam bulbs I have run the risk of plugging up when the snow is coming down hard and driving right into it. I thought about switching my fogs to LED but figured it would be better to not press my luck.
A while back I did a search for heat grid tape that could be put over the outside of the lens and I found some but never bought it... (could'a, would'a. SHOULD HAVE) and now I can't seem to remember where I found it...

I can't see with the 6000- 6500 K temps. I also run the Bus Depot housings, but use a Hella 90/ 100 Watt bulb. I can see better with them than with LEDs. I added a wiring harness, mainly to take the load off the MFS, and couldn't be happier without going for a High Dollar light like a Holley Retrobright.
