For those running a doubler set up or an Atlas 4, did you add any support for the heavier setup? Or are you just running the stock transmission mount? Thanks
I looked into this when installing my atlas 2 speed and the concensus on other forums seemed to be that unless you're racing or rockbouncing a single mounting point is sufficient. Some also claimed the the second support can do more harm than good. For those running a doubler set up or an Atlas 4, did you add any support for the heavier setup? Yeah we added a support to a buddy’s. I bought the support ring and built most of a trans crossmember for mine but never got around to installing it. I will at some point probably but I’ve beat the hell out of it without issue over the last two years.Which transfer case are you going with. 2 speed, 4 speed, something different?
An np 241 weighs 90lbs
2 speed 110lbs
4 speed 125lbs
@Rescue6 has done a few 4speed installations. Maybe he has some insight.
That's awesome.16-3/4” total length to center of ujoint.
i will have 2.72, 4.0, and 10.88.
Shorter and lighter.I haven’t got a real accurate measurement of my 231 with SYE. But it looked close to 16.5? Maybe 16”. Didn’t try too hard. Even 3/4” longer should present any issues. My rear DL has plenty of room. But will check everything at full droop to verify. This doubler is not much cheaper than an Atlas 4, but being a couple inches shorter is very important.
Yes. The Dana 300 isn’t as strong as an atlas but with my 100hp I don’t think I will break it. With no power having a lot of gear choice will be great. I could have been a bit shorter with a bronco Dana 20. But support for them is lesser than the 300. As it is there is only one company selling 4-1 gears for the 300. Atlas is really just a better/simpler option if you can fit it. We just really wanted to retain stock low range then have a 4-1 as well. The 10-1 will get some use in the snow, not sure how much other use it will get, but it will be a fun bonus. Lol. We are doing 2 rigs with this set up. The gears are on back order till mid May so project is on hold till then. We have ordered or received everything thing else. That's awesome.
Shorter and lighter.
I am installing a flipped Dana 300 behind a Ecobox doubler. Not much cheaper than a AA4spd. But will be lighter and a bit shorter while keeping stock speedometer.
the doubler is 20lbs. I have read the 300 is anywhere between 70-86lbs. Guess I could I could throw one in the scale. Lol. Seems like a lot of guys are running a mount like shown below. I will be using a rubber tranny mounted to the tail housing bolts, mounted directly under the tail shaft.
