Hey all,
I’ve been dealing with some drive line vibrations and I could use some help diagnosing it. I did read through the guide Is your Jeep wrangler TJ experiencing vibrations
It’s an 06 LJ with a 2.5 inch lift. When bought the skid plate was already dropped an inch. The first issue I found causing vibrations was the transmission to skid plate mount had gone bad. There was 1/4” of play that I could rock the whole drive train back and forth with. Since replacing that mount I’ve noticed less vibrations, but they are still there. I also just got the tires balanced.
Taking a page from the post I linked, here’s the info I have.
It only becomes noticeable, as in I feel it in my hands on the wheel or stick when shifting at higher speeds, 50+ MPH.
I did test if I could rotate the drive shafts while in 1st gear parked and in 2WD. The rear did not rotate at all but the front drive shaft did. I linked a video.
Let me know what you guys think!

- Was the vibration always present since you bought the vehicle, or did it just recently occur?
- If the vibration recently occurred, is there something you did to possible cause it? Examples of this would be installing a lift, putting in a new driveshaft, etc.
- Under what circumstances does the vibration occur? For instance, does it happen between certain speeds? Does it happen only when accelerating or when decelerating as well? The more you can tell us, the better we can help you.
