Door sill protection options?

I must be cheap! I had some left over non-slip “tread tape” that I had used on my deck stairs. Strong adhesive and wrapped around nicely.

x2 for the Rugged Ridge. They don't hang out under the door edge and look stupid. Yes, they have the logo, but I step on them, I don't stare at them, and the door almost is always covering the logo.

I don't think there is anyway to get the old factory tape off. I tried heat gun, scraper, goo be gone, and a few other techniques. I could never even get close to getting it off. The door sill guards covered it great. I've purchased two sets of those Rugged Ridge's for two separate rigs, one of which I still have.

Add to that list a pinstripe wheel. It worked, but it melted the old hardened glue in the process, creating lots of smoke and smearing it along the sill and also on wheel. I had to run the wheel on a 2x4 just to get the glue off, which then flung little grains of hot black glue all over my shins and anything else nearby.
