Does anyone know if you need the cruise control green dash light for it to work?

Does anyone know if the green cruise control dash light is needed for the cruise to work? I have a cluster that does NOT have the cruise light on the dash. I am wondering if the computer needs this to validate that you have turned it on/off on the steering wheel? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ian.

The light is just a light, it's not going to stop it from working without the light. You may just have a harder time knowing when the cruise control is on or off.

So it doesn't tell the PCM that it is on/off? I was hoping it might be something this simple. So what sets the cruise control servo? What tells it it's active v off? Trying to understand how this works.

Look at the wiring diagram and pcm, vss sets driveshaft rpms which is what the pcm used for servo position, along with other signals

You do NOT need the cruise light for the cruise control to work. I got mine figured out. I'll update in my original thread.
