Dana 30 Carrier bearing Cap

I heard the bearing Cap for the carrier in a Dana 30 , the "y" stamp needs to be on the bottom, is this true? I'm having Dana 30 issues and this might be one of them as they are on the top. I did not install the lunchbox locker that is in there. And now I'm not sure if the locker itself is the issue.

There is a mark on each bearing cap and on the case. Doesn't have to be a "Y" but the orientation will be the same on the case and the bearing retainer that should be there. It isn't that the symbols need to be "up" or "down" they need to match the mark on the case.

Normally one will be vertical and one will be horizontal. Match the orientations and you should be good. You can also see the witness marks on the inside of the cap to tell which side is inside/outside.
