Cutting stock bumper?

hey guys, id love to pick up a stubby bumper (however the bank account is disagreeing with me per usual.) ive seen some rigs with the stock bumpers cut down and im wondering what the best way to do this is, my first guess is a sawzall. thoughts?

I think saw-zall is not the right tool. Take it down and use a high speed cutting wheel on a bench for a clean cut.

Just a thought here. Do u have the luxury of a machine shop nearby, I'm sure u considered that option or ruled it out?
I'm considering the same thing, maybe a modification to the stock bumper.
If there's a machine shop near you they can fab up whatever u dream up

If no shop close bye, use a high speed cutting wheel and then follow through with a grinder to flatten/smoothen the edges.

i didn't even think of that.. i have one down a short drive away from me ill have to head over there. what were you thinking about doing with yours?

would a hand held cutting wheel do the trick as well as a bench one? (even if i sacrifice a little bit of precision)

I used a 4.5" angle grinder with a cut off disc to cut mine. If you have a steady hand and can follow lines, you won't have any issues cutting it.

X2. I'd be using an angle grinder or a recip saw. Whichever was easier to get to. Of all the things to cut up on a Jeep, the front bumper is among the easiest to deal with.

I cut 4" off of each end with my horizontal band saw. I duplicated the original angles and put on a set of MOPAR end caps.

I want to see it just cause I hit a deer last winter and had to pull the number back out. Just doesn’t look right and I think I need to cut it down where the frame caps stick out lol

Yeah, well, I did take a few precautions. What you can't see in the pic is the welding blanket I tossed over the engine to keep the sparks away from the oil and grease. I like to say that I'm crazy, not stupid (The Wife may have a different view of things...).
