Hey All! I am prepping to install the Crown OPDA in my 05 Rubicon and have a clarifying question. I have seen some videos that show the plastic alignment pin being removed upon installation and I’ve read some comments that the pin is meant to be left in and sheared off when the engine runs. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Also does the crown unit have instructions that might explain this? I’m still waiting the unit to arrive.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure the instructions are going to tell you to leave it in and let it shear.

But, you can use it, or an allen key, to align the current one before pulling.

I would pull it before starting the engine, just because I don't like pieces being left in the OPDA. And if you messed up the alignment, you can reuse it, hahah.

The service manual indicates the pin should be removed after the OPDA has been installed and before starting.
