I have been hearing a somewhat faint whining noise while driving that starts at about 23mph and then changes tone around 28mph. It does not change frequency with speed besides the single tone change. It still whines if I shift to neutral, let off the gas, and/or am braking as long as I am above 23. I revved the jeep to above 2k rpm while parked and there was no noise. I also pulled off the soft top to see if it changed and it did not. Shifting into 4wd didn't change anything either.
It seems like that would mean it is something in the drivetrain after the transfer case. I haven't pinpointed where the noise is yet but I feel like it is coming from the front, really hard to tell while driving even with my head out the window.
Has anyone experience something like this or know what would be the next thing to check?
